Vaccine Requirements

Dog Vaccines

To ensure the health and safety of all guests, we require proof of DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella (Canine Cough) vaccinations prior to your pets first visit. We do keep your pets records on file, but they will need to be updated as vaccines are updated or as they expire!

Below, we have written a brief description of each vaccine, and further down we listed our cat vaccine requirements!

If your pet has any health restrictions or allergies that restrict them from getting the required vaccines, please reach out as we try to accommodate everyone while keeping the health and safety of every guest as our top priority!

Please remember, we are NOT medical professionals, but if you have ANY questions about our vaccine requirements, or vaccines themself, please feel free to reach out at any time and we will do our best to help!

DA2PP

What does the DA2PP Vaccine cover?

  • Distemper Virus:

Canine distemper virus causes severe disease that affects a dog’s central nervous system, respiratory system, and gastrointestinal (stomach/intestines) system.

  • Canine Adenovirus Type 1 & 2:

Canine adenovirus type 1 can cause infectious canine hepatitis.

  • Parvovirus:

Parvovirus is one of the scariest diseases a dog can catch. Unfortunately, it’s also extremely common. Young puppies are especially susceptible. But even adults can be affected—especially if they’re not fully vaccinated and boostered.

  •  Parainfluenza Virus:

Canine parainfluenza virus is a highly contagious respiratory virus, which may contribute to kennel cough and cause typical respiratory symptoms like coughing, nasal discharge, and a fever.

Rabies

What is the rabies virus?

Rabies is caused by a virus that attacks the central nervous system, specifically targeting the brain and spinal cord. The virus spreads through the saliva of infected animals, typically through bites. While we often associate rabies with wildlife like raccoons, skunks, and bats, unvaccinated domestic dogs can contract and transmit the disease as well.

Canine Cough (Bordetella)

What is canine cough?

Kennel cough, officially known as infectious tracheobronchitis, is a complex respiratory condition caused by multiple infectious agents. The most common culprits include the Bordetella bronchiseptica bacteria and various viruses like parainfluenza and adenovirus. Much like the common cold in humans, canine cough is highly contagious among dogs. Canine cough spreads through airborne droplets when an infected dog coughs or sneezes. It can also transmit through shared toys, water bowls, or direct contact between dogs.

The infection thrives in environments where dogs congregate in close quarters such as dog parks, boarding and grooming facilities, etc.

Like human flu vaccines, the Bordetella (Canine Cough) vaccine reduces severity and spread, but doesn’t guarantee complete protection.

Dogs may still get infected if exposed to a strain not covered by the vaccine or if their immune response is not strong enough.

Cat Vaccines

Please note that we do NOT require our cat visitors to be up to date on vaccines, as we do not socialize cats from separate families, but we DO recommend your cat be up to date on them!

Every cat, or cats from the same household, are in their own areas, and do NOT interact with cats from other families.

If you would like your cat to be with cats from another family, we would require vaccines and prior introduction of the cats, as they would be sharing an area! If you have any questions/concerns about this, please reach out to us personally!
